Decent value, slight hiccup

I rented a BMW GS for a week in Spain. The price was competitive, especially with the multi day discount applied automatically. The booking process was smooth. When I arrived for pickup, the specific model I wanted wasn't available, but they offered a similar one. It wasn't a huge deal but still a bit disappointing. The motorcycle itself was well-maintained and performed great on the roads. Delivery and return were efficient. Customer service was responsive when I called about the model change. Good value overall, just wish they had guaranteed the exact bike.

Easy Scooter Rental

Rented a scooter in Rome for a few days. The booking process was simple online. Picked up the Vespa without issue. It was a good experience overall.

Good bike, clear process

I booked a Honda Africa Twin for a trip through the Alps. The website was clear and easy to navigate for choosing dates and pickup location. I opted for the motorcycle insurance coverage, which added peace of mind. The bike was ready on time and in good condition when I picked it up. Everything worked as expected, from the GPS rental to the panniers. Return was also straightforward. Customer support answered a question I had about border crossing quickly via email before my trip. Overall, a solid service.

How does their pricing compare to like, EagleRider or some of the other big names? Is Rentalmotorbike generally cheaper or about the same?

N Nancy Robinson 2 weeks ago
I've found Rentalmotorbike to be pretty competitive, sometimes even a bit cheaper, especially if you're flexible with the model or timing. They have a 'best price guarantee' thing, so it might be worth checking if you find a better deal elsewhere.

They're usually good, especially for international stuff. For US, EagleRider might have more locations, but for price, RM is often right there or better.

Anyone know if you can take the bikes across country borders? Planning a ride from Spain into France and wanna make sure I won't get stuck.

P Paul Harris 2 weeks ago
You definitely need to check this when you book. Some rental partners allow it, some don't, and sometimes there's extra paperwork or insurance you need. Don't just assume it's okay, better to ask upfront.

I did a trip from Germany to Austria with no issues, but I remember seeing a note during booking that it's not always allowed. It's not a blanket yes or no, depends on the country and rental place.

What kind of license do I need to rent something like a Honda Africa Twin? Just a regular car license with a motorcycle endorsement, or something else?

S Sean S. 3 weeks ago
For an Africa Twin, definitely a full motorcycle license with the appropriate endorsement for that engine size. A regular car license won't cut it, even with just a basic motorcycle theory part.

Yep, full bike license required. And make sure it's valid for the country you're renting in too, sometimes an international driving permit helps.

Hey, thinking about booking a BMW GS for a trip through the Alps. Do they actually guarantee I'll get that exact model, or is it more like a 'similar' bike situation?

R Richard 2 days ago
From my experience, they try their best, but sometimes it's a 'category' thing. I booked a Harley last year and got the exact model, but I've heard others get an equivalent if the specific one isn't available. Good to double-check the fine print on your specific booking.

Yeah, I think it depends on the rental partner. Most of the time it's the exact one, but for really popular models or peak season, it might say 'or similar' somewhere.

What's the deal with the security deposit? Is it like, held on your card, or do they actually charge it and then refund later? Wondering if I need to budget for that money to be gone for a bit.

B Barbara Ramirez 2 weeks ago
It's usually a hold on your credit card, not an actual charge. So the money isn't taken out of your account, but it reduces your available credit. It gets released after you return the bike without damage.

Yeah, a hold. Mine was released pretty quick after I returned the bike, maybe a couple of days.
